I just heared from a friend that Qt DN will be off at end of 2012.
Is it right?
Oh, come on... It must be just a Mayan's rumor :D Even though if it is true I would be worried there is a lot of time till the end of 2012 ;)
Can you share those stats? Or are they published already somewhere?
Yes, it will be interesting for all of us to see them :)

There are new releases all one or two weeks, so what are you looking for?
-
With a rollout two days ago, including improvements to the tagging system. And Q&A forums are in the pipeline.

it's long time website is marked with "beta"!

"beta" is the new catch phrase, it means: "come on in, we have cookies!" (in case of QtDN, that is actually "muffins"). GMail was in beta, if I recall well, for 5 years...
-
AFAIK Qt DevNet will not stay beta for 5 years :-)
But to get more info, we should ask Alexandra or Marius -
My point was that the term "beta" is being widely overused, especially on web sites. QtDN is in good shape anyway - whether it should be still called beta is somewhat debatable (then again, I don't really mind whether it is still beta or final - it works just as well). Same was the case with GMail.
-
Rumor has it that the beta badge may go away in the not so far future... But the "pastries":/forums/viewthread/7463 haven't been ordered yet :)
-
Alexandra and I argued about the beta tag the other day, we have some big things coming (Qt 4.8 documentation and Q&A forums) that I would like to land before it goes away. We're also quite far along in a security review - important but invisible work.
And once it's gone we should follow in the footsteps of others and provide a per user check box in the control panel in case you want it back ;)

Yes, you right.

This would be the most important feature we need ;-)
By the way, it could be added now for those, who don't want it, and the default is: checked (which would mean, keep it) ... -
I think we need a configuration option, to enable and disable such advanced configuration ;-)
-
Perhaps a minimum rank to do such things?
-
And of course a badge to go with it: an "I am NOT in beta" badge :-)
-
how would you define levels there, how many weeks you are out of beta? And will there also be an "I am still in beta" badge then?
-
We don't need different levels for that badge, I think. We don't either have that for many other badges. Also, I don't see the achievement of not-finding the switch to disable the beta label, so no points (badge) for that.
(Is it friday yet?)

Close enough ;-)
