Qt + Windows Phone 7

In future,When Windows Phone 7 for Nokia available, Nokia definitely want their Qt applications and products to run in WP7 based Nokia devices.

Currently Qt is ported only in Symbian, maemo and meego.

After 11-2-11, Nokia has changed their strategy, and want to go with WP7, So they will definitely thinking of porting Qt in Windows Phone 7.

Otherwise Qt will find less audience.

You also have Qt for desktop systems, embedded devices (e.g. industrial devices, etc.) ... Smartphones is not all that exists.

qtrahul, so at this point I have no clear what do you mean. You write that Nokia port Qt on W7 but as is wrote in the letter you cite too, Andre is right. I thought too that Nokia opened a new way that names W7 that shortly coexist with Qt.
What seems a little illusion is the words about meego, if you read more about on the net. It is not ready yet for commercial devices and his destiny seems to be the same of maemo platform... but this last is only my opinion.

@Gerolf: you anticipated of seconds what I was writing. Qt is for a lot of platforms, and Nokia is only one of the (big) players that works in Qt. The Qt community is opensource, and Nokia had the agreement to manage this but the prior condition is to leave Qt open and independent. As you can imagine thinking beyond Nokia devices to KDE desktop and embedded.

There will not be a Qt port to WP7 from Nokia from what we know today and from what the business plans of Nokia are today. Point.

Exactly. I tink that this "point" had been written in all colours and fonts here and not only. Is possible that someone think that with and intense thought that this can be ... then it became real ? :)

Well. Qt's been ported to Android and iOS (to some extent at least) among others, so I don't see why there couldn't be a community port to Windows Phone as well. Fingers crossed.

If you get a C++ compiler and the C++SDK for WP7, it would be possible. AFAIK, MS does not give that out....

Having in mind also several recent blog posts from Digia about Qt Commercial on Windows 8 tablets I hope that Qt will be running on Windows Phone in (near) future :)

There is already a "thread":http://developer.qt.nokia.com/forums/viewthread/13919/ discussing native code support on Windows Phone 7; it may qualify for a merger.

Yes, I have the first hand info that C++ support is coming in the upcoming WP7 update. Apart from external factors if Qt is ported to WP7 then there will be more apps to its WP7. It is a value addition.

I haven't seen anything official yet. May be Nokia and Microsoft will announce it during Nokia developer day at MWC.

Hi, as mentioned really often till now, Qt is not only mobile. Qt comes from the desktop world, was extended to embedded devices and at the end to mobiles. And Qt is open source. It will survive.
