Modify serial scale Plotter in Python.

Hello, I have been trying to modify the scale / grid of a plotter in Python but I have not succeeded, could any one tell me how to change the scale of the grid in this attached software?
I already read the documentation, I tried what it says in the documentation but it does not work.

This is the software that I need to modify.

And this is the documentation of the library in the joust where they explain how I should modify the scale but it does not work for me, it does not give me an error, nothing just happens.
