Qt3d Preview no longer launching

I'm working on fairly simple scene Qt 3d that includes some animation. The scene was running fine in Preview (f5). I began experimenting with some of the native FX which worked fine. At some point in the process I could no longer launch the scene and I'm unable to trace back to where the error occurred. I deleted all of the FX and reverted back to the version that was working fine but no luck. Also shut down and restarted, etc.
Anyone have an idea what could have happened or how to fix? Are there any runtime debug tools I could use similar to the Console window in Unity?

Tried launching in Qt Creator with the following error:

OK, seems like shadow casting on the default light might be broken. Turning it on caused the scene to crash.
