Qt3D Wireframe example fails when using cpp

I'm currently trying to get Qt3D Wireframe example to work using the C++ API with little success. The example works using Qml but not C++ so I'm hoping that it's just something that I missed. The application builds and runs fine - showing the mesh but doesn't apply the loaded shaders. The shaders appear to have loaded fine and there are not error messages. I''ve updated an example to my github.
