I'm using a program called Mod organizer, it uses stylesheets to display information

    The style sheet

When you create an object in the program that does not conform to what QT is expecting to find in it it displayes the information in it's default Qt format (italics and dark gray font)

How do change the color of this base format text, background color.

When does a object not conform to what Qt is expecting? What is Qt expecting at all?
And who is displaying this formatted information?

It's not clear what are you talking about.
