Why Qt Installer use the 7z file format to archive install files? Are there benefit of 7z say against xz format?

Hi and welcome to devnet forum
I cannot pretend to know the answer. A quick look showed that xz archive format is single file compression while 7z archives are for multiple files.
BTW this forum is more user oriented. Therefore I doubt that there will be a definite answer from one of the decision makers here. Just out of personal experience Qt installer questions are raised here, but only few responses are given. seldom
Just my guess, but I would say it's something as simple as popularity? xz is not widely used on Windows and 7z is kinda universally used/recognized at this point so... I'm guessing it's just a coin-flip decision.
