I managed to successfully call C++ functions from the Javascript in a QWebView. I call my C++ object in Javascript as the variable cpp . That was some super tricky code, involving some event interception. I managed to patch some examples together from various sources and got it working. So now I have introduced an IFRAME (again, a local file:// ) but am having trouble getting the IFRAME to be able to call the C++ functions. Seems webkit has security controls when using local pages. Something to note also is that my project only uses local pages with file:// in the QWebView, not remote server pages. The workaround, however, was that I can use HTML5's new postMessage() API, although it was pretty tricky to figure out. Still, that's not as cool as having that cpp object available in the child frame document. Do you know how to make my cpp object available to the child frame document inside the QWebView? So far, I can only get the parent document to load that cpp object, not the child frame document. My only workaround has been that postMessage() API, but is message passing (and interpretation) rather than natively calling the cpp object from inside the child frame document. Code is going to be a bit more responsive if I can call that native object rather than message passing and interpretation.
