SSL error installing Qt for Devices in Ubantu

I am currently following the instructions located at http://doc.qt.io/QtForDeviceCreation/qtee-installation-guide.html to download an evaluation copy of QtForDeviceCreation. I am running Ubantu running inside VirtualBox on my desktop PC. When I run the installer, it logs an error to the terminal window Warning: QString::arg: Argument missing: SSL error: %s, The root certificate in the certificate chain is self-signed, and untrusted. In the Qt installer window, a red message "Network error while downloading target '/tmp/qt_temp.TJ7859'. Error: SSL handshake failed". I have verified that I can logon to the Qt site from the Ubantu Firefox. Any ideas?
