Is there something wrong with the "Menus" example?

Hi all,
I was checking the examples when I noticed that in the menus example if using MacOS things don't work as expected with the status bar, while the same example works fine on Windows.
What I mean can be made clearer with the following images:

The first time it needs to change text, the status bar changes to a darker colour except from a little patch on the beginning.

Only updates from the right click menu are shown. If I use the mien menu then nothing happens with the status bar.
Why is this happening?
