I am learning how to use Qt Creator. The documentation says that I can add a new state by clicking in the black area to the right of the base state box. However, clicking there does nothing. Also, my state area lacks the box with the "+" in it to add a state, as shown in the documentation.

Is there a setting that disallows creating new states or, that sets the maximum number of states to 1?

I have Qt Creator 3.2.1, running under Fedora Linux 20, 64-bit.

If the root item is a Window or ApplicationWindow then states are disabled, because those elements do not have any states.
