Mac and Office documents

Hello,
On Win OS to import / interact with Office documents one could use i.e. QAxWidgets class. Of course that will work only on Win.

My question is - what to use to import Office documents on Mac Os X (10.9.x)?

What I want to achieve is to import document and it can be as Image (actually it's preferable solution - so no interaction etc.).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

PS. I'm interested in importing binary Office documents but solution for XML (office 2007 up) is also acceptable.

Did any one used libre office C++ api? Is it good enough to i.e. retrieve each document page as image?
