Controlling MainWindow behaviour on switching application

Dear All,
I have a fairly standard MainWindow based application and when I switch to a different application it used to hide the window. Since updating to 4.7.2 it now keeps displaying the main window although it does hide the floating windows. I actually prefer this new behaviour but I would like to know how to turn it on and off (and actually I'd like to be able to keep the floating windows displaying too). Presumably it's a window property somewhere although I confess that I haven't been able to find it.
