[Solved] Debugging with MinGW self-compiled creator not possible

  • Using Qt creator 3.1.2 compiled with latest Qt 5.3.1 (MInGW) does not allow debugging.

    The application output states:
    Debugging starts
    Debugging has failed
    Debugging has finished

The actual application to be debugged is actually started, but the debugger output is missing. gdb is started and apparently the conenction between Qt creator and gbd cannot be established.

When using the creator as delivered with Qt 5.3.1 the debugging works normal without changing anything. The application is simply loaded and not recompilation done.

Does anyone know a procedure to by-pass the problem?

  • Open a bug report at and append the debugger log (contents of right pane of Windows->Views->Debugger Log) there.

  • Bug report "QTCREATORBUG-12735": filed on JIRA

  • Some debugger extensions were missing. After copying the contents of c:\Qt\Tools\QtCreator\share\qtcreator\debugger to the self-compiled creator version also debugging is working.
