Creator: Find out how include paths are misparsed?

For a few years now, I always struggle with the issue the Creator cannot seem to properly expand the include paths as specified in my .pro file. Granted, the logic is pretty complex (and dependent on various environment variables), but I never have an issue with the compiler, so the paths should be correct.
How can I examine for example which INCLUDEPATH Creator sees and uses for the code model? Any other ideas how I can find useful information, or even manually set the correct include paths for the code model to use?
