Retrieve contents of webpage in a thread

hello,
this is my first post here and my skills are somewhere between beginner and moderately advanced in using Qt.
my problem is i am using a qwebview to retrieve the contents of a web URL for my software.
my query is can i shift the retrieving job to a thread and if so how can i implement it. the literature i have gone through suggest that i can use it as main GUI object only, if so can you suggest alternate method for retrieving the contents of the webpage in a thread.
