Qt Developer Days in other countries..

  • Does Nokia plan to hold a meeting in Russia for example? I think that a place of the meeting will be crowded :)

  • He-he it's good idea. But, I think, we don't never wait up it.

  • Fully agree that this is a really good idea. :)

  • We heard about it before and it's something to keep in mind. No promises, but I'll pass it on.

  • Another idea is to organize community meetings, maybe if they will be big enough Nokia will provide some "goodies" (like some Trolls as speakers...)

Another good candidate for Dev Days i think should be Australia, i saw some people from there on Qt forums (and i don't think that many of them will fly to Munich or San Francisco), or why not have one Dev Days on each continent?

And one in Romania! (just kidding ;) )

  • I like the idea of community meetings. If anybody feels like setting something up I will be happy to help out with stuff I can provide from our side. It depends of course on the meeting what that would be...

Be creative! You know where to find me. ;)

  • +1 from me for the idea of community meetings! The challenge here is for local organizers to be found! ;)

  • Community meetings would be nice for other countries too...

    Yes, that's what I meant too! ;)

  • +1 in Russia :)

  • Yes, I vote for a Qt meeting out Europe or USA, I think Russia is a good place for a meeting too.

Irazo: I guess you are happy to hear that the "devdays are in Munich and San Francisco":http://qt.nokia.com/qtdevdays2010 this year:-)

Tobias Hunger: I ask you not to misunderstand the meaning of my words, I just understand the feelings of the colleagues that expressed here their desire to have an event near of them. Because when I was in Mexico I always wanted an event of this kind will take place there, but it never did. They're was always in a place in U.S. or Europe. However, for me is OK that this event will be, like almost always, in a place of U.S. and Europe. As we used to say in Mexico "If the mountain does not go to Muhammad, Muhammad go to the mountain". :-)

Irazo: Sorry, I did misread your post:-(

  • Tobias Hunger: Don't worry :-) is only a comment! Have a good day my friend!

  • It's gonna be a Qt Code Camp in Istanbul (Turkey). If you wanna join, just drop me a line :)

  • Brazil! :-)

While it does not happen, the Brazilian KDE community continues organizing Qt community meetings, talks in several events and mini courses. If any Brazilian read it here and want to participate, don't hesitate to contact us in #kde-brasil @ freenode.

  • +1 for dev days in Brazil... ;)

  • Today is a beautiful day! I got to know that Forum Nokia plans to hold a meeting in Russia!

I guess, you'll get more useful information from QAsstistant

    I agree.

I think conference will be about new Qt technologies such as Qt WRT and other.
I don't want to get new knowledges from this one.

P.S. And I hope Nokia will distributes free t-shorts there :)

  • kibsoft, yes, anyway, it's good :)

  • +1 Belarus )

  • Australia please :D

    Really? T-shorts??

  • +1 for India please

  • Yes As.sri me too will vote for India too,I see Qt is getting more and more popular there specially with Nokia Brand Loyalty it will grow even faster than other place (my guess)

  • I also vote for community meetings, which is much easeier to set up with the groups now. And I think there are always some students, so maybe universities could provide the place in some cases I think.

I was at the Nokia Developer Workshop Budapest in May, which was great, and I'm looking forward to simalar events and maybe a seperet code camp or something like that. The power of a community could be great :)

Best thing that can be done is to organize regional meetings. For example I live in Balkans, and it would be great to do a regional meeting which would include Qt developers from all Balkan regions to attend in one place that is easy reachable by everyone. I am thinking on doing so :)

Yeah, that was what I've tried to suggest. I'm looking forward to see what the groups will capable of :) :P

I think Qt Developer Days in Europe is taking place on Germany because this country can be easily reachable on Europe, this year when I was to Munich I had a direct flight for ~3 hours I was in Munich, I think the same goes for all European countries.

That's true too, and I have to confess that I do Qt for a hobby and maybe later for some more professional application. I'm 'just' an electrial engineer student in Debrecen, Hungary, and that's why I cannot afford to fly to Munich and pay for all the services.

    I see.

Usually companies where you work pay for your attendance on such gatherings. Sometimes they are not paying so you should think opening a savings account (I'm joking :P)

Yeah, but that only true if your work is connected to Qt, otherwise there is the saving account that you have mentioned :P and fortunately there will be local events organized by regional groups I think and hope :)

  • Poland! I was at "Qt for N8" in Warsaw and it was great meeting. I hope there'll be DevDays also :P

Yes, my work is relying on Qt completely, which I am very happy for.

I would prefer Germany more :P

  • India has huge mobile and embedded market.

So, I would suggest the Qt Developer team to make such kind of Event in India.
    (Just Suggestion).
