I am planning to setup new system to work on Qt. I am lil confused if i should install KDE or GNOME. I read somewhere, KDE is written in Qt. I think, KDE would be better environment to work on Qt as compare to GNOME in term of installation of extra libraries. Please correct me if i am wrong.
    Thanks

Yes, KDE is based on Qt and Gnome is based on GTK. You'll probably need both of these libraries so install which environment which better meets your needs. There shouldn't be any problems with Qt development on Gnome. I prefer KDE.

While Qt works great in both environments, one benefit you could have when using KDE is that you can see what you can make with Qt, and even get the code for that.

Well even if you would have chosen GNOME this should not make any difference. Qt works great there too. It is cross platform and any flavour of Linux/unix is well supported.
Best of luck for you coming Qt development days ...!!!

Yes you are right, It is cross paltform. But i thought qt is tightly integrated with kde environment. and on the other hand, i will get a chance to experience qt application kde it self ;).
I am feeling, i took right decision. As a developer, it is so important to enjoy programming and your environment. All on all, i am enjoying kde.
One more thing, i would like to appreciate active community like you guys created here.
              Thanks.
