What are you trying to archive? What is the exact error message? What do you do right before the problem appears?

With the information provided no sensible answer is possible.

The error message is as specified above QT:Emulation layer crashed. I tried to click on the design tab and alter few positions of the Item and Components according to my convenience but since I get an error I could not proceed.

The rendering for the designer is done in a separate process. In your case this process seems to crash.
Can you file a bug report including your setup and a .qml file that crashes?

The version of Qt Creator and the OS you are using.
