Limitations of the Qt Designer

I started playing a bit with the Qt Designer today and am wondering about the limitations it has, specifically with regards to the signals and slot mechanism. I managed to create an example where a label is hidden / shown simply by click one of two buttons without writing any code, completely in the designer. However it does not seem to be possible to change the text of that label directly in the designer. Also I am wondering about message boxes and other dialogs, can I connect buttons, menu items to other dialogs or message boxes in the designer?
