Qt installer still bans russian ip addresses AND ip addresses of different vpn providers and even addresses of where i can get vps to run vpn on. This seems weird to me as the installer says "opensource" in its name and it is here for installing the open source version of qt creator. Yes, the sources are still avaliable, but qt creator built from sources does not include examples and docs and i dont know how to enable those if there is even a way. I also dont see the offline installer anywhere. What are my options unless i leave russia?

Best reach out to Qt Company directly? This is a bit outside of the subject of this forum.

      For more information please re-read.

      Kind Regards,
      Artur

@Mio4 said in Installation from this IP address is not allowed:

            opensource

Open source is not open binaries. The binaries are built by TQtC and they won't deliver them to some states, nothing more.

@Christian-Ehrlicher yes, but i dont need binaries, i just need examples and documentation, and i believe both are GPL but i don't see any other way to install these other than this oficial binary installer

@artwaw thanks for help! unfortunately, my ticket on my.qt.io/support was declined, and among the qt offices list there is no russian office which is to be expected. The "contact us" button also is here only for commercial business purposes and sales, which makes sense bcz why would anyone ever hire a support team to manage foss problems without any profit. I dont think that reaching out to QtC for non commercial reasons is even possible, though i might be wrong and i hope i am

Open source (under the GPL/LGPL) only means that if someone gives you the binaries they must also provide the source code. There is no obligation to provide anyone with the binaries (or even the source code). Everybody is free to choose to whom they want to give GPL/LGPL software.

As @Christian-Ehrlicher already mentioned the Qt source can be found on GitHub. You can even compile a full Qt from that (which is a little more trouble than just using the installer). I assume that you even need to build the docs. Though you can easily access all the docs at docs.qt.io (assuming this is not also blocked for Russia). There used to be tools to download whole webpages (following all links) for offline reading. If these kind of tools still exist you could grab the full docs from their website.

BTW, there is no offline installer for the open source version anymore.
