When first attempting to install, opened the download file and it requested that I log in. The attempt was met with “Authentication failed” I keep all my accounts and passwords on a thumb drive so checked the password. It was correct. Upon visiting the web page, logged out and back in with that password. Still, the login there was rejected. So did the forgot password thing, received the email, and was able to start the install process.
The install speed was about 100K / second. Tested my internet speed at 100 Mbps. So be it.
Disabled the power save and let it do its thing for an entire day. There were a couple of network failures where “Retry” seemed to succeed.
Sometime in the early morning, after midnight, that phase was competed and the next began.
    The next problem was:
    17d7f164-360b-45b3-b508-567c62a14dd0-image.png

That was caused by me neglecting to use the Admin account. But now I cannot raise my account to Admin. Rather than trying Ignore, Cancel was selected. Then the install app appeared to uninstall everything.
Switched to Admin. Had to copy the install app from the download directory of my user account to another directory so Admin could find it.
Started the app and tried to log in. Authentication failed. Showed the password, it was correct.
I don’t usually use Admin, so now I must activate Outlook, set up for the email account I use for QT, reset the password and try again. Did that, logged in to the web site successfully.
Logged in with the install application
Now it is back to the Welcome item of the left side panel. Made the same selection as the first attempt, “Qt 6.6 for desktop development” This is displayed:
    b4dbc385-b853-4e9f-a74e-11faebf6a908-image.png
After an entire day to download, I definitely want to retry. This looks really bad. It should be able to resume. Click yes, acknowledge a few items, then click “Install”
    Click Yes to allow.
Now it is downloading some archives. The download speed is ~121 KB/sec.
The internet speed at this house is 100 MBps. Now I have multiple hours remaining again before the install is complete.
    Time to,..., wait.
Edit: there is a good point. I can use ctl-v to paste in the image captured from my screen. Most forums will not allow that so is a major point to the good here.

@Bryan-Kelly said in Install difficulties. Extreme.:

The download speed is ~121 KB/sec.

Select a different mirror, this is not normal. https://download.qt.io/static/mirrorlist/

@sierdzio Thanks for the tip. I don't check back as often as I should so let the install complete.
I had to use the Admin account to complete the install. That created a problem. When logged in as Admin, go to "All apps", and in the "Q"s there is a folder for Qt with a plethora of options. I presume the best one for simple apps is Qt Creator. Is this correct?
The problem: It is not present for my regular user account. In Windows 11, what are the steps to gain access for my regular working logon?

Yes, Qt Creator is the IDE which makes developing programs the easiest.

Uninstall and install again as regular user.

@sierdzio Qt was uninstalled with the Admin and install started with my regular user ID. It completed successfully and did not ask for any Admin privileges. I presume all is good and am working on learning how to use it.
            Thank you for your patience.
