New posts counter is wrong sometimes
-
Just noticed that new posts counter added yesterday shows wrong value.
I'd visited DevNet hour ago and read all new posts. Now I've open DevNet again and saw that there are 3 new posts. New posts list showed me 2 topics and each of them contains only one new comment. So counter should be 2. -
Chetankjain, can you also count number of new comments (as I think they are countered in this counter, not threads number) to confirm?
-
Counted again. 3 new posts, one topic in list and only one new comment in this topic.
-
Can't find what does it count instead of number of new posts. Now it showed me 9 new posts with 2 topics on list and each contains one new comment. One contains 5 comments and other 3 comments totally. So can't make 9 here (either 8 if only comments are counted or 10 if comments and initial posts counted). It is a good quiz for curious brain :) Please, when you fix it tell us what was the problem.

hi Marius, today morning I saw some like 41 as the count for new posts, I had to close browser and reboot, when I logged back in, it was down to like 4 posts :( think I missed a whole bunch of posts... something to be looked into? I managed to open a few replies (13) from my subscriptions via mail, but lost the rest ...
It's "Posts since last visit" not "Unread" I'm afraid.
I did this,
- Login to devnet, 7 new posts, read one post
- Now devnet home page shows 6 new posts
- From a totally new browser logged into devnet and still see 6 new posts
So if this were posts since last visit, it should have shown 0 ?

just now went to the devnet home, and saw that there were 4 unread posts, I clicked on it and saw a single post with 2 replies, and I already had viewed this post with the same 2 replies ...
Could be that your browser cached the page since last time? Do you remember if you had a page view on the front page earlier with 4 unread posts? If so we need to tweak the cache headers to be stricter.
