I wonder if Qt and HTML5 are going to be pushed on S40 too :)

If that happens, just nothing like it. There is a HUGE market in India especially for S40 phones, imagine the kind of population numbers one can reach with their Qt apps :)

Mobile apps for the common man in India, is one field that will explode in the coming years. The potential is unlimited!

I really hope they remain spending as much time on improving Qt for the desktop as they do for mobile phones.

tbscope: I think the chances for that to happen are good: The announcement said everything will be Qt based, which in my understanding includes all synchronization software, etc. running on the PCs. So we do need a great cross-platform support for the big machines.

Of course any speed-up done to improve the phones will be noticeable on the desktop, too. It is the same codebase after all!

Green refuted the suggestion that the desktop applications were "on the back burner"; "We know where the community and the fame and value of Qt came from" he told The H, "and I think for us to maintain that relationship with developers we have the obligation".
