I'm using. open source QT creator and am trying to add a new "Manual" c++ compiler. I go to Preferences... -> Kits -> Compilers, so far so good, I see a list of "Auto-detected" and "Manual" C and C++ compilers. In the upper right of the panel is an "Add" dropdown, but everything under that dropdown is grayed out. For some reason I already have 2 "Manual" C compilers, although I never added them. I see that I can clone either of those and modify them, allowing me to add a new "Manual" C compiler that way. But how do I add a new C++ compiler?

That's correct, all options are greyed out and it just goes "beep" when I try to click on any of them, including Custom. Your screenshot looks very much like my PC install, where in fact I can just click Add->Custom->C++, but I'm on Mac, and it looks like this:

And clicking on "Custom" or any of those options "ICC" etc, just beeps.

          Hi
So clicking custom doesn't open the submenu but just beeps?

          I never saw that before.

What QtCreator and Qt version version are you using?

Im not sure what the issue could be but no macs around so give it some time and
maybe some others have an idea on a mac. Sorry I didn't have more help.

Yep, that's exactly right, clicking on any of those options including "Custom" just beeps. No sub-menu comes up. As far as version goes, I'm using:
            Qt Creator 4.15.2
Based on Qt 5.15.2 (Clang 11.0 (Apple), 64 bit)
            Built on Jul 13 2021 01:19:10
            From revision 94d227cd43
Okay, thanks for the help. Maybe a mac user will have some advice.
Interestingly (maybe) my PC version where I can add a new compiler is QT Creator 4.12.1, so older.

Hi. I also have this issue on the same version of Qt Creator (macOS Big Sur 11.5). However, there is a thread mentioning the issue from back in April already. Is there a way to circumvent this by changing the settings stored on disk?
