Looking for experienced developer to help updating a QT4 style GUI to a modern QT Quick style (QMS/javascript based) interface. Ideally has experience displaying large data set of real-time time series data on the GUI and has experience connecting GUI to backend program (we have in-house developer for the backend but may need guidance on the process).

Hi,
You might want to consider first updating to Qt 5 or even Qt 6 and then move the GUI to Qt Quick.
-
Not necessary, irrespective of Qt5 or Qt6, QML will work good. Whatever is your version, you can re-write the UI of Qt into QML.
A full guide of QML is here.
