How to store file metadata for desktop application

Hi there,
I'm currently developing a desktop application for a university project and I was wondering which is the right way to store application metadata (such as the path where all files are saved/loaded, user settings, ecc.). I have to follow the MVC pattern and I can only use standard c++ or simple Qt classes (nothing too much fancy).Thanks in advance or the help.

Use QStandardPaths and store settings using QSettings. It's simple and the standard way of doing things.
