I started my introduction in qt-3 way back when. Before that I did Xt and xlib programming, using motif and athena widget sets. The short review I did of MFC left me feeling mentally numb and like I lost several IQ points for even attempting to absorb it. I guess in retrospect the win32 programming model was an expected consequence of the state of tech at that time, but I am so glad the tools and architectures have evolved since then...and I still strive to avoid having anything to do wit windoze/.net or any of the other M$ spins on tech they stole and morphed to trap customers with.
