Since it is just a rumor, I have moved it to the Lounge instead of Announcements. If and when Nokias has something to announce, it will end up there anyway.

I guess MS would be first to acquire Nokia.

You're right, my mistake ...

It is just rumor, Nokia is not for sell.

Any publicly traded company, Nokia included, is for sale. It is just a matter of offering the right price to the stockholders.

I have a feeling there are going to be rumours that pretty much everyone is "planning on acquiring Nokia" over the next few months. These things tend to come in waves.
A Samsung/Nokia merger would be interesting from a technology point of view. Nokia has a stack of patents and know-how in wireless while Samsung is really strong in processors/flash/damn-near-everthing-else.
As far as operating systems: Samsung's Bada looks like it's squarely targeted at the low end where Symbian is still dominant. Samsung is also quite heavily invested in Android for the higher end devices.
You can guarantee if this was legit there would be a hell of a lot of interest from competition watchdogs before anything went through.

This merger, if it happens, would be an epic clash of work cultures & ethics. Both these companies are so different that it can be only be a merger of patents/ip. Merger of employees would be harmful for Samsung in big way.

nokia is a big giant, no one can aquire it.

Just to get an idea of the size of the companies, check this post:
