@AnneRanch said in What are your "favorite excuses" for getting banned ? - your opnion please:

..you did not ask "good question"... according to whom ? "volunteer administrator'' or AI ?

you do not "cross your "t" or "dot " your "i" ( poor usage of English )

By far the most common cause for a ban is when somebody is posting stuff completely unrelated to Qt or programming, has hidden links etc. (spam). There are around ~5-15 such bans per day and they are permanent.

Another category are bans for people violating code of conduct (rude, abusive language etc.), here the ban is usually temporary and accompanied by an explanation why it is given. Such bans are very rare.

after being banned permanently for " not asking good questions "

On almost all sites/forums you should use the search function first before starting a new topic. Some will enforce their rules more strict, some dont.
In my opinion, the Qt forum here is a place with quite patient and tolerant people and understanding for beginners.
Elsewhere, if admins/moderators get annoyed by people asking the same basic stuff over and over again, they often delete/close the topic or even restrict the user.

@AnneRanch said in What are your "favorite excuses" for getting banned ? - your opnion please:

there are people who feed / strive on spamming and that is what administrators ORIGINAL task was

          Your POV ;-)
I would say, THIS is not the main purpose for forum admins.

@AnneRanch said in What are your "favorite excuses" for getting banned ? - your opnion please:

however , nowadays "volunteer administrators " have became "control freaks" ... and in my case "voluntary editing my poor English " . My poor usage of English is none of their business

How dare they editing your posts, for the sake of other people's understanding of what you are asking for and I order for you to receive more helpful answers?! ;-)

You could also improve your topics/posts ;-)
Use code tags (</> button or three backticks ``` in front and after your code paragraph) correctly and frequently, be proactive, use the documentation, don't demand others to help you. If they have something to say, they will. If you are not getting any answers, bump your topic but before that, give people time to respond, since almost all members are volunteers, you know that :)

          To answer your "question":
I, personally, never got banned from somewhere.

If debugging is the process of removing software bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in.

            I believe that:

            • Getting banned for "not asking good questions" is too extreme
            • There is nothing wrong with editing a post to improve language and readability

I proudly got kicked off the raspberry pi forums for disparaging their chinese masters. I advised folks to avoid chinese software mirrors unless they wanted backdoors in their code. I was told that "politics are not appropriate on the forum". I couldn't leave well enough alone and did a short rant about how I would not refrain from making legitimate comments related to state sponsored spying, and attempting influencing in online content.

              I was booted. Yay!
Good riddens. I have no use for the platform or its "confusious institutions" leanings.
