What are these xxx..pro.user files for?

Qt Creator's settings related to the corresponding project. The current state of the project in the IDE, Build and Run Settings, plugins etc. They are XML you can read.

I know of no purpose for the files that appear to have a checksum appended after .pro.user.

Yes You will lose any current state or non-default setting you may have made in Qt Creator. A default version will be created when Qt Creator next opens the xxx.pro file.

Hey, this was long ago... needs a refresher every 6 months :D
We need some AI here (ok, AI is maybe to much, a simple forum search with some logic) which automatically links to these posts.
