Cancell Button in forum post
it’s a bit different for web, where atleat I’d suppose that user knows that the data won’t be tracked until she pushes the button or something. A link ”go to home” would be more useful for that kind of functionality.
I agree that this would be only a convenience feature and it really does not matter how you call the link. And of course it is not a high priority issue.
I would like this button to stay in that particular thread of discussion but clear out all quoted text and what ever you have already typed in , at the moment you need to delete every text of the compose box Or hit back and then re click the discussion thread to come back in.
I'd rather call that button "reset". But is it really necessary? Ctrl-A and Backspace achieves the same thing...

Not sure that I understood correctly what this button is for :) Something like imitating Ctrl-A and than Delete?
-
Yes This would be just a convenience feature to drop all the text of the compose box rather deleting all the text either by bakspace/delete or what ever, I would like to clear all the text without going to any other page and would like to keep stay in same thread discussion with all clear text. actually little inconvenience comes when you click quote to reply some one post and latter you decide not to do it.

What’s the problem with that text? Does it bother you? As long as you don’t press ”post reply”, it won’t be sent.

Please use the search button!

stuk, these two threads are not related to current one. They are about preview button and deleting comments.

Since the reply area is available by default (as in, you can type without clicking on a "reply to this thread" button) I think the correct action would be "reset", as Volker points out.
I'll add it as a feature request to the list. It could be handy sometimes, even though there are other ways to do the same thing. I tend to "ctrl+a -> delete" since I'm a keyboard kinda guy. But on my phone I would probably have used a "reset" link.

mariusg, I'm always forgetting about mobile platforms :)
Also I can add that this button should be not near current two, but in other place (maybe at left) just for avoiding misclicks and "argh, I cleared my 2 kilobytes comment" -
Let me backpedal a bit here. A "reset" button for a plain web form is, from a usability perspective, a bad thing.
The benefit of this semi-useful feature (can be done in other ways) vs the risk of loosing your content doesn't add up it seems.
Those are not my words:
