I am in the process of setting up a new Windows PC at work and trying to replicate my old set up. I downloaded Qt installer but it seems it no longer supports Qt 5.9.6, which is still the standard version in use in my company for now. I was able to download a standalone 5.9.6 but that gets installed in its own location and seems to have its own (old) version of Creator. Is there any way I can integrate the 5.9.6 download so that an up to date Creator will see it?

For what it's worth, we are planning to transition to 5.15 and on my old machine I had 5.15 and 5.9.6 side by side and I could easily switch in Creator. This is what I want to get back to on my new machine.

I was diverted from this for a while, but coming back to it and trying it again, it is clear that I was incorrect in saying that 5.9.6 is no longer available via the installer. I suspect I missed ticking the box that provides access to archive versions of Qt. I suppose I have not needed to do this in the past as 5.9.6 was still available as a non-archive release.

Add the Qt version to QtCreator in your Kits settings (Extra -> Settings -> Kits -> Qt-Versions) manually and use them.
