[Suggestion] Mark pages to be renamed with standardized tag and to-do message
-
The tag should be "please rename". It's a verb so it can be easily caught as a meta-tag. The text in the page (first line) should be something like
This page will be renamed into "target name"
orThis page will be renamed into "target name", this page will be kept as a redirect
if a redirect is needed (because linked from the forum or external in a mailing list)The above tag+todo-message set is only an example. An English native speaker will surely meet the good tone better than I.
Topic changed. Former Topic was "[Suggestion] Mark pages to be renamed with standardized tag+todo-message"
-
I've started with it.
Dear Admins,
for a todo list, please have look on "pages tagged with please rename":http://developer.qt.nokia.com/search/tag/please+rename -
Hi,
I extended that list a bit.
Also we have some categories by mistake, could you remove them:Inside Category:QtDevelopment::General::
we have:There are 3 subcategories for this category
* BuildQtForLinux
* BuildStaticQtForWindowsWithGcc
* BuildStaticQtForWindowsWithGccGermanThere are 3 articles in "QtDevelopment -> General":
* BuildQtForLinux
* BuildStaticQtForWindowsWithGccGerman
* How to build a static Qt version for Windows with gccAfaik, the categories are the articles :-))
all 3 do not specify the category anymore....
can you please remove the categories (or tell me how to do it)? -
Hi,
I found some empty categories in the wiki:
Category:QtDevelopment::GamesGame_Development
Category:Tools -> QtCreator GermanDeutsch
Category:Learning -> Demos and ExamplesDemos and Examples -
Most pages in "Qt Language Bindings":http://developer.qt.nokia.com/wiki/Category:LanguageBindings also don't follow the rules...

It is not clear, what the destination name of the pages are....and I would rename the worst (and most prominent) first.
-
I would do it on ablock, but that's personal opinion
-
I see most wiki have a tag please rename.
What this mean? For example HowToUseGravatar_Italian rename name in what?
What is the standard name for translate article?I was think nameBase + _ + language

I think here is the base name addressed: Use of underscores instead of CamelCase. But I don't know... Maybe Gerolf knows more about this.
-
The idea was first tro gi to CamelCase only
then there were discussions and polls, and I think, the result was, leave the names with CamelCase or Underscore. -
Then we should simple remove the tags for pages when the intention is not clear. As I suggested above, the target title should be named on the page, so that the Admins are able to do what nobody else can do.
-
But do we have an agreement, how we want to proceed? I think is was: Let everyone name the pages, how they want, but in English, right?
-
I changed the topic. Is the intention now easier to get? Please review! Thanks :)

Maybe, I'm not sure. As I remember, the language part should be appended with underscore.The problem that I actually wanted to solve with this Post, is a technical one:
To find a simple way for wiki users to get renaming done by the Admins. -
nice wok guys
-
Sorry but i don't understand...
if the english page it 'page', for my translation i have to rename 'page_Italian' or 'pageItalian' ? -
No. Naming conventions is not subject of this thread, but only the renaming procedure itself.
I think naming conventions should be discussed and elaborated (in new thread(s)).
