Is that how you have stayed awake all night? :P Insomnia isn't good for your health.

If you open the window from time to time, that also keeps you awake, especially in winter :-))

tamhanna, I think you've meant 2000 kcal :). Also AFAIK 2000kcal is not enough for man's body, it is ok for women. Man who does strong physical work needs around 3000 and man with mind work needs around 2500

No way, man who does mind work needs more than man who does physical work. Our brains need a power plant to function! ;) That's why all those nerds are skinny even though they sit down all day and eat junk food.

I wonder if the Trolls could test the effects of their poison (drink) of choice. Alexandra said Marius drinks sodas. Try him on coffee, see his productivity improve ;)

xsacha, mind work of course needs a lot of energy, but physical work needs a lot of more energy.

Tea drinkers may live a longer life, but they don't enjoy it as much :P
Besides, how are we going to test that? Productivity is much easier to test for.

Denis: I wonder, mind work + physical work? Does anyone exercise while doing mind work? Maybe sit on an exercise/gym ball (that you have to balance on) while coding?

PS. What do you people in Liechenstein drink? They "live longer":http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=wb-wdi&met=sp_dyn_le00_in&idim=country:JPN&dl=en&hl=en&q=average+lifespan+of+japanese#met=sp_dyn_le00_in&idim=country:JPN:HKG:CHE:LIE:ITA, on average, than Japanese.

xsacha, the best is to have mind work, phys work, mind work, phys work, etc. It is recommended by all med people I know.

Important to keep a balance I guess. How come you can't do them together though?

Denis: You haven't mentioned which type of poison (I guess some sort of coffee) you drink :P And do you drink it every day?

I personally will only have it when I feel it's needed (feeling really tired, not motivated or can't concentrate) - or if I'm meeting someone related to my research. Actually, I feel like one now.
If I'm out meeting someone I'll have a cuppucinno.

xsacha, I've drinked coffee some years ago (but not much, 3 cups a day max). Now I'm mostly drinking tea and drink coffee very rare (let's say 1 cup per month). Also sometimes use cola instead of tea.

I've always been in to normal coffee's with milk.
That was until I went to France for a while (conferences).
The only coffee they supplied was black. No milk. I asked the guys there where the milk was.. you know.. for the coffee. They told me they don't drink cat pee.
I got used to this sort of coffee and drank it for a while after but I'm back to coffee with milk :) Mostly because it lasts longer and keeps you warm longer and I think I need whatever protein is in the milk to stop my muscles wasting away :P.

In Spain very few people drink tea... and I was one of the lucky ones whose girlfriend is an avid tea drinker. :)

I never liked coffee, unless I added another cup of sugar, but I discovered good tea when I had a holiday on London, and now I have a huge amount and variety of tea.

We also have a nespresso, but I mostly drink decaf.

Why all this caffeine consumption? Well, my girlfriend is a nurse and works at the night shift. :)

BTW, tea also has caffeine. All books that I've found about tea, none mentions "teine" or something like that. A wikipedia check seems to confirm.
