QtMobility 1.1 / WindowsXP / Messaging Framework and MinGW
-
I want using Messaging API from QMF, but inside "documentation":http://doc.qt.nokia.com/qtmobility-1.1.0/installation.html i found this notice:
Note that messaging functionality will not work if you are using the MinGW compiler.
Why QMF don't like MinGW?
-
bq. While not supported for this release the desktop Windows backend requires that a MAPI subsystem is installed.
Based on this I would say that QMF depends on MAPI and the MAPI subsystem (used by outlook) cannot be used with MinGW.

so we should all switch to linux ? :)
-
At least switch away from Windows.
-
It can be portable to all platform where can work Qt, if QMF developers be use QTcpSocket + custom RFC implementation instead call OS API. :(

From a maintenance point of view it makes sense calling the OS/vendor API, especially when it concerns closed protocols.
