Unsolved Online installer sucks!
-
Hi,
I want to download Qt for Linux using the online installer, but the connection has the worst speed ( ~1KB). I'm just getting bogged down into it and can't solve this problem. Is there a way please?
-
Hi
What about the offlines ?
Still download super slow ?
https://www.qt.io/offline-installers -
@mrjj
I didn't go for that because everyone says online installer in better. -
@qcoderpro
Well its a much bigger download but the end result is the same.
There is also a repro changer but for the life of me i cant find its page. -
@qcoderpro The only advantage to download the offline-installers is that you can choose the mirror.
-
So I have to go for the offline! And there's not any way to fix the online?
-
-
None worked.
There's not such "Info" option in the second link and the alternative way doesn't work either because when I want to download "The requested URL /online/qtsdkrepository/{platform}/root/qt/ was not found on this server." -
Hi
Ok. odd.
and the link you pasted in had something meaning full for
{platform} ? -
@mrjj
Hi, I don't understand this. sorry. -
@qcoderpro
Hi
It just it says
"The requested URL /online/qtsdkrepository/{platform}/root/qt/ was not found on this server."and i wondered why it had {platform} listed and not like Windows_64 or Linux or a valid platform.

@mrjj
hi,
yes.
Here: https://github.com/JKSH/QtSdkRepoChooser/releases we don't have the pack for Linux.Never mind. I go for the offline pack. Thank you
-
@qcoderpro
ok i hope its faster then :) -
I downloaded the offline version. It's defective sadly. It lacks many features!
-
Why don't they fix this problem? I don't think it's new!
-
I wish I could ask @JKSH why he hasn't put Qt SDK Repo Chooser for a Linux machine! :(
-
Hi,
As a workaround, what you can do is use your Qt provided distribution to build that project.
-
@SGaist Hi,
Here in the Alternative Instructions, #1 he says:
Download the contents of the following folder and all its subfolders. Ensure that you preserve the folder hierarchy:
For Linux x-64, it is here: http://download.qt.io/online/qtsdkrepository/linux_x64/root/qt/But these are all .xml file, what to download!?
-
@qcoderpro You need to download that xml files and the "qt" subfolder.
The xml file "Updates.xml" is actually the key to change mirror.
You can see there's repo list in it.
The goal is to replace the urls with a mirror site which provides you faster download speed. -
How to download those XML files?
The qt folder also contains 7 more files. They can be downloaded. But do I need all those many files?Why isn't there a package for Linux, just like Mac, and Windows and we should deal with those wholly messy matters!?
Why the connection problem isn't solved?
