I am logged into my Qt account, and I can't comment on blog posts unless I do another login. I can understand the technical side - it seems the comments have been outsourced to an external service. But can someone explain why the Qt login is not one of the options offered to login there, or why that service was chosen if that is not possible?

@Asperamanca Do you mean https://www.qt.io/blog? Looks like I can comment there with my Qt account.

@jsulm I was reading https://www.qt.io/blog/qt-quick-on-vulkan-metal-and-direct3d-part-2#comments and wanted to comment. There I stumbled upon the strange new comments.

I guess you are already logged in with Google, Facebook or Twitter, right? I have neither of these, nor do I want them.

@Asperamanca In my case it is Disqus not Google, Facebook or Twitter.

We were never able to comment on the blog using our Qt account. The previous system asked us to manually enter a display name and email address for each post. No login was required; anyone could pretend to be you!

I guess you are already logged in with Google, Facebook or Twitter, right? I have neither of these, nor do I want them.

The service is Disqus. It is not affiliated with Google, Facebook or Twitter (yet?), but it does integrate with those social media services.

It is technically possible. Disqus offers a pricing option which offers SSO integration: https://disqus.com/pricing/ I don't know what the price is, or whether the benefits outweigh the cost.

Anyway, I posted a request several years ago: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTWEBSITE-642 Feel free to chime in.

P.S. Would @AndyS be in a position to comment on this?

Unfortunately I have nothing to add here, it is out of my hands since I am not part of the team who is responsible for the website and so on. But I agree that this would be a nice to have in place, so I will mention it in internally, referring to the report that exists to see if something can be done.

...and now for something completely different.

Great. I can now ditch my brand new Disqus account. Plus the new "create an account" dialog doesn't even tell me where I sign up and who gets my data.

@JKSH It depends on the page layout. You may see that note, or you may click on "Register" and not see a thing. Because it's not part of either the login or register popup.
