Webpages not loading

I have ported QTWebKit to MIPS based Linux platform.
I am able to load and display sample HTML pages stored locally.
But the same when I try to load from Web, its not loading.
The network connection is without proxy and is working fine. To check I tried "wget http://www.google.com" and 'am able to get the index.html.

Do I need do do any thing to enable Network on QtWebkit?
Any suggestions / pointers, please let me know.

It was a proxy issue and by setting "http_proxy" env varilabe, i was able to access the internet.
