    I guess "Qt Developer Days(Qt Developer Days)":http://blog.qt.nokia.com/2010/06/03/registration-open-for-qt-developer-days-2010/ would be the Qt-related conference. Just sayin' ... :) Here's a "video(video)":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD99s5he394 for the curious.

    Cheers,
    Marius Bugge Monsen (mbm)

Yes, waiting to be there. Already registered. I hate it that KDE Akademy is finally in my home country and then I may not be able to visit there at all...gnn!

Yes, I generally like conferences, though in terms of Qt-related conferences I have only been to Qt Dev Days once (last year). I will go again this year though, and I am looking forward to it! Last year was very well organized.

Thanks. And I can assure you, that will be the same this year.

Haha don't you dare complain...Australia is practically isolated from the rest of the world!

I've never been to any IT-related conferences, but I've been to Physics ones. I find conferences boring unless I go with friends. The good thing though it's usually paid travel (if related to work/research).

Why is it difficult for eastern Europeans to travel to an event like the Qt Dev Days? They are organized in München, Germany, as well as in the States. Also, Academy so far has always been a European event. At the moment, it is going on Finland. Not too far away from the northern parts of Eastern Europe, I'd say. Still, I guess I am lucky that from my location there are good connections to most of the world. The airport is a major hub, and I am only half an hour traveling from the airport.

I agree with mass above: if you want to talk about being isolated for these kinds of events, try living in Australia or in a country like South Africa.

It can be a terrible hassle to get visa in time. I have written several invitation letters to attendees of developer sprints and - trust me - it's complicated.

As for visas, it is very complicated here in Kosova as well!

Right now I am hoping to attend Qt Dev Days 2010, I really want to be there this year :D

Ah, ok. I had not realized people were talking Eastern Europe as in that far east. My fault. I usually associate Eastern Europe with countries like Poland, Check Republic, Estonia, Bulgaria... All of those are no longer an issue in terms of travel. But yes, of course there are many more for who visa issues do exist.
