There doesn't seem to be a QT Maintainance tool on my installation, do I need to install from scratch?

@James-Sprinks Did you use the offline installer to install Qt?
Using online installer will give you maintenance tool in c:\Qt

@James-Sprinks Simply use Windows Explorer, go to c:\Qt and start it from there.

@James-Sprinks This is strange, it should actually work. If not you can try this tool to select a repository: https://github.com/JKSH/QtSdkRepoChooser

@jsulm Ok it seems to be updating. Is it possible to change the compiler from MWinGW to MSVC with an existing project?

Sure. Simply select different Kit in QtCreator.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. I am starting again from scratch. Can anyone tell me which version of Qt to install, which version of MSVC build tools to install, and how to make this work.

Surely it should be that hard?

                      J

"Build Tools for Visual Studio 2017" requires Qt 5.* for MSVC 2017

@VRonin Ok. So can someone tell me how to set this as a comiler for a project - without getting all of the errors I have previously mentioned...

In Qt Creator go to tools->options->build and run->Kits and make sure there is n MSVC 2017 one with no warning or error icon next to it

Open your project, in the left bar select "Projects", in the build and run section add the MSVC 2017 kit and right-click disable the others
