Solved HelloWorld for Quick on MinGW32 freezes
-
@JNBarchan Different graphic cards. Two Dell notebooks and one desktop.
-
@MSarres
Then, although I might still be worth trying, it doesn't seem so likely that a graphics driver update will solve your situation, which had seemed to be the suggested issue.Are you able to test something earlier than Qt 5.9.2, that you know it used to work with? If I understand your posts correctly, that seems to have been the recent update which is common to all PCs?
-
@JNBarchan My app used to work at 5.7.
But as no application works, I try to make a Hello World Quickcontrols 2.0 either on 5.9.2 also on 5.7 no success so far.
-
@MSarres
Well do also take the suggestion of the expert guys here, who said update gfx drivers, because they know a lot more than I do! They may know thatengine.load()
implicates the graphics specifically. -
My best guess is that they all got the Creator update.
run
winver
and see if all have same windows version
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/whats-new-windows-10-version-1703
I had some win 10 at work that needed driver updates after this BIG update.
-
@mrjj So that would be ... Windows Update, then ;-)
-
@JNBarchan
Yeah, there is nothing like HUGE updates to whole OS to make
funky shit happen. So if he is seen seeing same on 3 different machines, I would assume he would recalling install some app on all of them so that leaves the normal suspect. Windows Update. -
@mrjj @JNBarchan tried everything now... Updated the graphical driver, and reinstalled all QT, versions 5.7 and 5.9.2, MinGW32
My Windows 10 version is 1709
.
Then create a brand new project at Projects>New Project>Application>Qt Quick Controls 2 ApplicationSame thing, the Hello World freezes at engine.load(
Could it have something to do with 32bits running at a 64 bit laptop?
This is so bad...
-
@MSarres
Its not so likely its 32/64 bit issue as I assume it was same
bitness when it worked.Did you update virus scanner recently ?
Btw 1709 is the Fall Creators Update. also huge.
Tons of people having issues. -
@mrjj What do you suggest? A Windows 7 Virtual Machine?
-
@MSarres
Well if its due to a MS update. then we will hear soon here in forum.
So for now we must assume its something locally.
If you must work now, then yes a wm with windows would do it.However, just check at worked and its 1709 too and tried a QML default project and no hanging.
There is nothing else that has issue on the pc ? I mean watching video ?
Since you have tried update gfx and reinstall Qt, it must be something external since its
all 3 pcs at same time.I would find an openGL app and see if that runs.
You could also try the windows 10 refresh feature but it will kill some apps.
-
@mrjj It is really strange it seens I am the only one with these problems. I have worked fine with QT for last year, but all of a sudden, the MinGW32 feature I use to test my mobile app is no longer working.
Thanks for your support. I will to install in a Windows 7 VM, if it works, I post the solutions later in this forum.
-
@mrjj The Windows 7 VM worked. Created all my framework on VirtualBox and everything worked fine. For sure it was Windows 10 update. I really think QT team should take a time to correct this. Many not so expert developers like me are suffering a lot with this kind of situation.
-
@MSarres
Well im not sure its anything the Qt devs can fix unless its something new with gfx drivers that makes
Qt incompatible but so far i have not been able to break QML on
my windows 10 box even updating with anything i could find.
