cdb 64bit debugger crashes with gui application

I am developing a 64 bit windows gui application with Qt5.6.2 and msvc2015. The program runs in release mode. When I want to debug the application the cdb debugger crashes as soon as the main window is shown. The disassembler shows as begin: ntdll!RtlUserThreadStart:
