    Hi everyone,

I guess I'm going to post here because it is somewhat related to tools and plus, my post can get views here.

So I decided to check out Qt Creator. I've to say, I'm really impressed with what I saw. It is packed with a ton of features, pretty much everything that you need and want.

I do have a few suggestions:

    1.) Better live syntax checking.
    2.) Autofix feature
3.) Search the IDE in general. For instance, let's say I need to change the format style in my code. It would be great if I could just type in format and it leads me to options where I can make the modification.

And that would make it the best IDE out there for C++ developers. For some reason, it seems like Visual Studio has bugs, but that cannot be, since Microsoft has been making software for decades and it's no way they could miss these obvious bugs. Let me know if you had a similar experience.

    Thanks for the read.

@ChrisW I don't use Qt Creator, but the few times I've played around in it, it seems quite good.

I mostly posted here to let you know that this is a user forum so it's pretty unlikely that anyone who could implement those suggestions would see them here. :)

Also if you're looking for an awesome IDE that support Qt (via cmake) very well, and is just plain epic, check out CLion by Jetbrains. It's not free but it's well worth the cost imo.

Yeah, I was actually thinking about taking this post down because it is a little bit off topic. But I wanted to let people know that it is a very good IDE, especially if you don't care about the features that I suggested earlier.

The IDE, obviously supports things cannot be implemented in Visual Studio, either because of the lack of the source code available to the developer or something else.

I'm going to give you some time to read this post before I delete this thread.

        Thanks!

@ChrisW You don't need to delete the thread. It's fine. Seems on topic to me. You won't get any developer attention though.

I am a moderator here and I wouldn't lock it down for being off topic. ;)

            @ambershark

Thanks! In regard to Clion, I heard about it, I use PyCharm, when I'm programming in Python, one of CLion's sisters. It's a good IDE. I'm assuming that the features are similar, with some additional ones, of course, since I use the community's version.

@ChrisW Yep very similar. It's very well done. I use vim so I have to have good vim support in any IDE I use and with the IdeaVIM plugin for jetbrains' ides it works great.

If you like pycharm you'll like clion. :) It's pretty cheap for an IDE too. I got a license for $99 when it first came out. That beats my other IDE slickedit by a lot. Slickedit is like $350 or something silly high.
