I was sure that there have been a remark, but I could not remember as well. I would be interested too.

I just tried and you can still sign up. However, I did not receive a response yet. So, it is not automated.

I do not know, if you have tried as well, but signing up was successful even after the event. I received an email similar to the one probably the participants received as well.
