Solved QT new install fails to compile, doesnt find compiler.
-
I have been coding in C++ on and off for some time. I used to have Visual C, but has become too expensive for what I do. I have used Eclipse for some time but I need to develop an application for windows. In an Eclipse forum I fund QT.
I have installed QT and a first glance looks fantastic, but I cannot compile. I have MinGW as the engine.
On the Properties->build->kit the automatic kit was found but there is no compiler listed and the drop down box is greyed and a cannot select a compiler. I tried some of the suggestions that is can find on the web adding a new kit and a new compiler but still cannot make it compile.
I'm not at home right now, but does anyone have any suggestions to make this thing work? -
Hi and welcome
You could try to uninstall Qt.
Then use this
http://download.qt.io/official_releases/qt/5.6/5.6.0/qt-opensource-windows-x86-mingw492-5.6.0.exeThat should install mingw compiler and Qt version for it.
And just work out of the box. hopefully :) -
Thanks, I'm traveling for business right now. I will try your suggestion on Friday.

@Dan3460
Ok. happy traveling.
If you have Avast as scanner. then disable during install. -
The solution worked perfectly. Thanks
