Since it's been announced that Qt Cloud services are shutting down, is there anything that works with a different backend that provides similar functionality to Qt Quick EnginioModel/EnginioClient?

I had an email yesterday; I don't see that it's been posted online anywhere.

OK, then I'll have to check my e-mails, too. Thank you.

The Enginio client library is being deprecated (which means it will no longer be actively developed, and will not be included in release packages). However, the Enginio server will remain fully functional: http://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/releasing/2015-August/001994.html . You can continue to use the existing version of the client with new versions of Qt (you might eventually need to build it yourself from source code)

Qt Cloud Services is not shutting down. Note also that Qt Cloud Services includes services other than Enginio: https://developer.qtcloudservices.com/qtc/introduction

I wish I had saved that email from yesterday. It said services would only be available until H2.

                Hi,
this is an excerpt from the email: "Important notification for all Qt Cloud Services users" by info@theqtcompany.com:

"...Over a year ago we launched Qt Cloud Services, which includes Managed Runtime Services, Managed Application Runtime (MAR), Managed Database (MDB) and Engin.io. Since then we have received great feedback and seen some amazing cloud-connected applications published on the platform... ...we are currently looking into ramping down Qt Cloud Services. Meantime we will be discontinuing further sales..."

Huh, that's quite different from the impression I got from the public email. It looks like existing customers got more info than the rest of us.

                  Sounds like a shame :(

                    Hi,
Yes, it's being ramped down. The info went to customers yesterday, and a public announcement should happen really soon.

At least at some point parse.com had a similar service.
And the major cloud providers do have NoSQL data services. Of course they require a bit of work to get all the features running.
Or if you are versed in coding, you can use some container service and set up your own server.

Nothing is as simple as Engin.io is for a Qt user, but as the mail says it was not a working business. And also there will be proper notice before the service goes away.

Last week, I wrote a Qt Quick interface to parse.com, and ported my Engin.io app over to it.

Yesterday, it was announced that parse.com is shutting down.

I think I will give up on these services and host my own CouchDB.

                        @xargs1 that announcement completely sucked.

This announcement left us with a lack of Baas Qt client that could be used with a set of cloud services (Google Firebase, IBM Cloudant, BaasBox...) - I really think it would worth combining our effort, knowledge and feedbacks to design such a client library.
If have started a topic for this purpose, please give feedbacks.
