Touch Pressed Signal Delay

I'm using 5.6 opensource beta under w7, with a touchscreen, but I see the same behavior under 5.5.
When the screen is touched there is about a half second delay before the system reacts.
The behavior is consistent across the fancybrowser example, the towwaybutton example and my own test program using qml/WebEngineView.
The web examples can be tested with TouchEventTest.html.
The touch test web page works, as expected/hoped in a standard chrome browser. I.e. immediate response to a touch.
My specific goal is to eliminate the delay for touch based content in a WebEngineView.
