Problems with setting volume for SoundEffect

Hi,
I am playing some sounds using a SoundEffect element (on WinXP with Qt Mobility 1.1 on top of a Qt SDK 4.7.1), and setting the volume does not have any effect... the sounds are played at max volume. The same problem does not seem to occur if I use an Audio element. Has anybody else experienced this - or know of a fix?

I had the same problem on osx 10.6.5 with qtmobility 1.1. I tried with mp3s and wavs, but I couldn't get it working.
In the end my solution was to modify the audio files...
