Set buddies with designer

From the C++ GUI Programming with Qt 4, it says "Click Edit|Edit Buddies to enter a special mode that allows you to set buddies."

But I don't know how to do it. I can enter the Edit Buddies mode but what's the next step?

I think there is a bug for this feature. Tried several times but cannot find what's next. After I navigated to another project and came back again, there are numbers on other widgets after I clicked the Edit Buddies icon on the top. There were absolutely no those numbers before.

Sorry, I am wrong, numbers were not for the buddy but for the Tab Order. Still don't know how to set the buddy.
